Spring is here, and you know what that means...

Updated: Apr 14, 2020

Spring is finally upon us, after what seems to be a very, cold, long and wet winter. We are seeing warm sunny and more importantly, dry weather for a change. With the emergence of Spring comes the inevitable 'spring clean'. A joy for some, but a hinderance for others. And of course this year, 2020, sees something else emerge along with the sun, Covid 19.

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few months you will know that the world is currently being hit by a virus, once which has flummoxed health organisations and brought them to their knees. Because of this we, here in the UK, are currently in lockdown, we are being asked to STAY HOME, STAY SAFE and SAVE LIVES. Staying home can be hard for many of you, but why not use this time in a positive way and give your home a good deep clean.

A deep clean can have many positive benefits, especially on our health and the health of those around us. It is important now more than ever to have a clean home. A clean home not only helps to boost our immune system, it also has many positive mental health benefits. A clean and tidy space has been proven to reduce stress, and help keep the mind calm and healthy. So what are you waiting for, get cleaning.

Not many of us usually have the time to give our home the real deep clean it, or even we deserve. Instead we wipe round giving things a quick 'freshen up', often neglecting the nooks and crannies that gather dust and dirt when we aren't looking. And we often overlook certain things and areas, such as doormats, shower curtains and even the tile grout.

Below we have put together some handy hits and tips to help you with your deep clean this spring, and we would love to hear any that you have.

  • DOORMATS - Vacuum inside door mats. Both sides! Outside ones can he hosed down and left to dry in the spring sun.

  • GROCERY BAGS - Something no one thinks about to clean, especially if you use reusable one. Over time they can accumulate lingering food bacteria, best way to be rid is to turn them inside out and stick them in the washing machine.

  • CHOPPING BOARDS - Run the cut side of a lemon over the board to help remove any food stains and smells.

  • FRIDGE - Your fridge interior often finds itself with spilt food so give it a good wipe down, selves and drawers with warm soap water.

  • TILES/GROUT - Half a cup of baking soda mixed with 2 gallons of water will clean your tiles and grout to look almost new.

  • CLEANING TOOLS - Don't forget that the things you use to clean, your brooms, vacuum cleaners, dishwashers, washing machines etc. all need a clean themselves once in a while. With all that dirt running through them, they tend to accumulate that which they clean. So run an empty cycle, empty the traps/bags/ clean the filters.
